Barbiel from Athens, Ohio, grew into a musical discipline through first studying art and literature, being particularly attracted to the Medieval and Renaissance periods.

Although her art work early on brought her some notable recognition, it's music that is her main creative outlet today. Just as her art work then expressed her spiritual view of the world, so does her music now express a medieval mysticism. Many of her songs, in fact, are inspired by her visions, or by Medieval writings from the 12th and 13th centuries.

From a stint as costume designer for some small theaters in Northeast Ohio she picked up the practical skills to sew period garb; useful for the Renaissance Faire circuit she and John now inhabit. Along with a somewhat zany grasp of reality through metaphor, she has also launched a line of hats "Hats of Wizdom", (not for the faint of heart, we might add.)

Still creating art, she's currently working on some children's book illustrations.

An avid reader, she maintains an interest in spiritual studies and discipline, Celtic history and Medieval literature, as the pile of books beside her bed grows and grows....
